MANSFIELD -  Six Mountaineers scored in double-figures in a dominating 111-47 win over Penn College Saturday night at Decker Gymnasium. Zach Mager and Breland Roach led Mansfield in scoring with 15 points each.

The Mounties' 111 points was the most in a season opener since a 115-86 win over Philadelphia Bible in the 1991-92 season.

In a pre-game ceremony, the Mountaineers celebrated the 2011 PSAC East division championship by welcoming players from last year's squad to raise the championship banner into the rafters.

Mansfield came out hot, going on a 13-0 scoring run over the first five minutes of the game. The Mounties allowed little production from the Wildcat offense, forcing 21 turnovers in the first half. Penn College closed their defecit to nine points on a Gregg Gibbs jumper with under 14 minutes to play, but Mansfield used a 31-18 run to close out the half to take a 46-24 lead into the lockerrooms.

Senior Josh Dupuy was the leading scorer for the Mounties at the half-way mark, recording nine points going three-of-five from the field while hitting three free throws. Sophomore Kyle Bradley had eight points for the Mounties while Charles Becoats chipped-in seven points.

Mansfield shot 56% from the field in the first half while forcing 21 turnovers. Penn College outrebounded the Mounties 21-11 in the half.

Mansfield continued to increase their lead while holding the Wildcats scoreless throughout the first five minutes of the second half to take a 66-26 lead.
The Mountaineers continued to play hard-nosed basketball and walked away with an 111-47 victory.

Mansfield had no trouble getting offensive production as every player who entered the game put points on the board. Charles Becoats, Josh Dupuy, Kyle Bradley, Cory Henneghan, Breland Roach, and Zach Mager all hit in double-figures for Mansfield accounting for 77 points between the six. Equally as impressive was Mansfield's defense, which totaled 22 steals and forced 42 turnovers on the night. The Mounties also held a 40-38 rebound advantage over their opponents.

Freshman Issac Bittle collected 11 rebounds on the night and was two points shy of a double-double.

The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday, November 19 when Mansfield welcomes Edinboro University to Decker Gymnasium.
