Derrison Anthony's Double-Double Leads Mansfield Men to 75-72 Win at Mercyhurst

ERIE – Derrison Anthony recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Mansfield to a 75-72 win over previously undefeated Mercyhurst in a PSAC crossover contest Monday night in Erie. 

Mansfield trailed 27-19 with just over five minutes to play in the first half before closing the gap to 31-30 at halftime. 

Mercyhurst increased its lead to 44-38 four minutes into the second half but a 13-3 run gave Mansfield a 51-47 advantage on a Kyle Bradley layup at the mid-point of the second half. Mercyhurst regained the lead at 57-54 with just over seven minutes remaining before Mansfield came back with an 8-0 run taking a 62-57 lead on a 3-pointer by Lavail Owens with 4:40 to go. 

Josh DuPuy's layup gave Mansfield a 74-68 with twenty seconds to play but Mercyhurst closed to 74-72 eight seconds later before Anthony hit a free throw. Mercyhurst had one final shot at the buzzer to tie the game before Mansfield could claim the victory. 

Anthony recorded his third double-double of the season and the second in his last two games. Yuseff Carr, who had three fouls in the first half but didn't commit any in the second half, went 8-10 from the floor scoring 18 points and pulling down six rebounds with three blocked sots. DuPuy also scored 18 points including 14 in the second half. 

Heiden Ratner led Mercyhurst (4-1) with a game-high 22 points while Luis Leao added 18 points and 12 rebounds. 

Mansfield host UDC this Thursday.
