MANSFIELD – The Mansfield men's basketball team was narrowly edged out in a thrilling contest Saturday night at Decker Gymnasium. The visiting Le Moyne Dolphins knocked down nine three pointers on the night to give them the victory over Mansfield.

Junior Tony Fannick had his season high point total with 17 going 5 for 11 from the field along with 2-4 from three. Fannick also recorded three rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

Yuseff Carr shot 60% from the field, totaling 16 points on the night bringing down eight rebounds along with three assists. Carr is Mansfield's leading scorer and rebounder on the season recording 15.3 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Mansfield's Derrison Anthony came off the bench and drained a crucial 3-pointer with 3:32 to go in the game to break the tie and give the Mounties a 67-64 lead.

Lemoyne's Nate Champion countered with a three of his own to tie the game up at 67 with 2:52 to go. Just :30 seconds later the Dolphin's James Cormier made his second free throw attempt to take a one point lead for Le Moyne.

With :06 seconds remaining, Derrison Anthony narrowly missed a pull-up jumper to win the game for the Mounties.

Le Moyne's Kevin Roth made both free throws to make it a three point lead after he was quickly fouled by Mansfield when he brought down Anthony's missed attempt.

With 2.3 seconds left in the game and the Mountaineers trailing by 3, Mansfield's Josh Dupuy intentionally missed his second free throw attempt, brought down his own rebound, and managed to get off a three point shot that would have tied the game. Dupuy's off-balace shot hit the back end of the rim and bounced out.

Mansfield knocked down seven 3-pointers shooting a season best 45% from long-distance.

Freshman Nate Champion had a game high 23 points going 7-14 from the field and 5-7 behind the arc for Le Moyne.

Mansfield falls to 6-2 while Le Moyne Improves to 3-6.

Mansfield takes a long winter break until the play again January 3 against California University.
