Luke Palmer

Luke Palmer

A native of Elmira, N.Y., Luke Palmer enters his second year as a Student Assistant with the Mansfield Athletic Department in 2026, working primarily with the baseball, men's basketball and sprint football program.

Palmer supports team operations and day-to-day program logistics throughout the season. He manages critical backend responsibilities, including alumni relations, analytics, video coordination, travel planning, and opponent scouting. Additionally, Palmer organizes and evaluates key data to assist the coaching staff with comprehensive game preparation.

Palmer also works closely with the Athletic Communications staff, gaining hands-on experience in sports information, media relations, content creation, and event coverage. His responsibilities include assisting with game-day operations, writing game recaps and alumni features, producing social media content, and helping tell the stories of Mountaineer student-athletes.

Palmer continues a strong family connection to Mansfield athletics. He is the son of former Mountaineer football player and coach Josh Palmer ’02, who battled late-stage Hodgkin’s disease while playing college football and later founded the Josh Palmer Fund. The organization has since raised millions of dollars to support cancer patients and families throughout the Twin Tiers region.

A Sport Media student at Mansfield, Palmer continues to build experience across multiple areas of collegiate athletics, with particular interests in athletic communications, team operations, and media. He brings a willingness to contribute wherever needed, and a deep appreciation for Mountaineer tradition to his work with Mansfield Athletics.
