Luke Palmer

  • Title
    Student Assistant

A native of Elmira, N.Y., Luke Palmer joins the Mansfield Mountaineer baseball program as a Student Assistant in 2026, supporting team operations, analytics, and player development.

Palmer brings experience in performance evaluation and collegiate athletics support, utilizing advanced technologies such as HitTrax, Hudl, and 643 Charts to translate data into clear, actionable insights for coaches and student-athletes. His responsibilities include assisting with opponent scouting reports, coordinating video and technology operations, managing team and travel logistics, and organizing pitching, hitting, and defensive data to support game preparation and overall player development.

Prior to Mansfield, Palmer served as a student manager for both baseball and basketball throughout four years at the high school level. In baseball, he contributed to two Section IV championships and a NYSPHSAA Regional Final appearance. In basketball, he helped the program capture a Section IV title and earn a berth in the NYSPHSAA State Tournament, later returning as an assistant varsity coach.

Palmer joins the Mountaineer baseball staff alongside his longtime mentor, Coach Jeff Limoncelli, and continues his family’s strong connection to Mansfield athletics. He is the son of former Mountaineer football player and coach Josh Palmer ’02, who courageously battled late-stage Hodgkin’s disease while playing college football and later founded the Josh Palmer Fund. Since 1999, the Fund has raised millions of dollars to support local cancer patients and families throughout the Twin Tiers region.

Proud to give back to the community that has meant so much to his family, Palmer brings a fresh analytical perspective and a deep respect for Mountaineer tradition while contributing to the continued growth of Mansfield athletics.
