SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers baseball team split on the day with Slippery Rock, to close the series, on Sunday, March 15.
Mansfield took the first game 4-2 and fell in the second 7-2.
GAME ONE: Mansfield 4 – Slippery Rock 2
Quinn Shindler continued his excellent start to the season, tossing five innings and six strikeouts and getting the win.
Matt Rader picked up the save.
Kahale Burns was the top Mountie bat going knocking in a pair of RBIs.
Mansfield scored all their runs in the second inning.
Cooper Rother singled in the first run. A SRU error led to a second run on the play. A few batters latter Burns would bring in two more runs to give Mansfield a 4-0 lead.
The Rock only put up two runs across the next two innings and Mansfield would hold on through the seventh to take the game 4-2.
GAME TWO: Slippery Rock 7 – Mansfield 2
Brinden Floyd was the top bat for the Mounties in the second game going 1-3 with 2 RBI.
Mansfield earned the first runs in the game for the third time. Floyd singled in two runs in the opening inning, going up 2-0. The Rock would tie the game on the second on a home run.
Slippery Rock would add five more runs through the rest of the game and take the game 7-2.
