Mountaineers Drop Twin Bill to Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers baseball team fell on the road to Slippery Rock by scores of 22-4 and 6-1 on Saturday, March 14. 
 
GAME 1:  SRU 22- Mansfield 4
 
Brinden Floyd was the leading bat for the Mounties going 1-3 with two RBIs. Garret Emerick suffered his second loss on the year. 
 
Mansfield would get on the board first using a three run first inning. Floyd would double in the first two runs. Billy Riggs would contribute with a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-0 after the first inning. 
 
The Rock responded with four runs in the bottom of the second before tacking on 18 runs through the next four innings to put the game out of reach. 
 
GAME 2:  SRU 6 – Mansfield 1
 
Slippery Rock kept that momentum into the second game against the Mounties. Cooper Rother accounted for the lone run of the game. It would come in the fifth inning to cut the score to 2-1. The Rock would respond with four unanswered runs. 
 
Tyler Swineford was saddled with his first loss of the season. He pitched six innings and tossed three strikeouts.
