MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield University men's basketball team competed in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday January 10 against Millersville University, with the Marauders taking the win 82-62.
Sterling Scott tied his career high points collecting 25, four steals, five rebounds and one assist.
JuJu Pagan and Nasir Brown added 11 points each.
The Mountaineers (1-12, 0-7 PSAC) traded baskets early as Scott set the tone by attacking the rim and knocking down shots from the perimeter.Â
Scott scored consistently in the opening half, helping the Mounties stay within striking distance, while Brown and Pagan added timely baskets to keep them close through the first 20 minutes.
Coming out of the break, the Mounties continued to battle as Scott opened the half with aggressive drives and trips to the free-throw line.Â
Pagan and Brown each found success getting to the paint, and Ty Barrett provided a spark off the bench with tough rebounds and second-chance opportunities.Â
Julian Wilson also made his presence felt defensively, contesting shots and protecting the rim.
Despite the Mounties' effort, Millersville was able to extend its lead in the second half.Â
Barrett led Mansfield on the glass with six rebounds, and Wilson contributed four points, three rebounds and two blocks as the Mounties continued to compete until the final horn.
However the Marauders (9-5, 4-3 PSAC) were able to hold them in place and take the win 82-62.
