LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Jacob Houtz earned the Eastern Division Athlete of the Year on Tuesday (May 6) afternoon, announced by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) office. Joining Houtz from the Mansfield Mountaineer baseball team is Cole Serfass with his Second Team Honors.
Houtz became the sixth player in program history and the first player since Ryan Wyland in 2007 to be awarded Athlete of the Year honors, while also picking up his first career First Team accolade. Serfass grabbed his second consecutive Second Team honors.
Houtz led the PSAC in batting average (.444), total bases (118), OPS (1.433), slugging percentage (.874), and on-base percentage (.559). He finished top five in hits (61), RBIs (50), runs (48), doubles (16), home runs (14).
Serfass was named to the Second-Team All-PSAC at the catcher position. In 2025, he started 34 of his 38 games while hitting .348 and a .449 on-base percentage, placing him in the top 25 in the conference. Serfass finished second on the team with a .348 average and 31 RBIs.
Houtz and Serfass anchored the Mountaineer lineup, driving in 32% of the Mounties' RBIs and 33% of the teams extra base hits this season.
