Mountaineers Drop PSAC Contest at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers men's basketball team (8-16, 5-13 PSAC East) fell on the road, 105-72 to the Millersville University Marauders (15-9, 11-6 PSAC East) on Saturday (Feb. 15) afternoon.

Ty Crespo scored a team-high 19 points and shot 8-12 from the floor.

Owen Chambers scored 16 points and knocked down three of his five three-point attempts.

Nasir Brown added 14 points on 60% shooting.

Millersville started the game on an 8-2 run in the first two minutes before Mansfield responded with a 4-0 run of their own to get back with two early in the first.

The Marauders led by three (16-13) at the under-12 media timeout of the first half.

Brown cut the deficit to one (22-21) after converting on the and one after his layup with 8:59 to go in the first.

An 8-0 run for Millersville forced a Mansfield timeout with just over six minutes to play in the first half as the Marauders stretched their lead to a 36-26 advantage. 

Millersville extended their run to 12-0 before Diarmid Stewart got to the free-throw line to stop the run. 

The Marauders closed the first half on an extended 24-8 run to take a 52-34 advantage into the break. 

Chambers and Crespo led the way for the Mounties each scoring 10 points in the half.

The two sides traded baskets for the first 10 minutes of the second half as the Marauders still held a 78-60 lead with 10:04 to go.

Millersville added to the lead over the final 10 minutes of play and secured their 11th conference win of the season.

UP NEXT: 
The Mounties travel to Shepherd on Wednesday (Feb. 19) night to take on the Rams. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
