LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineer women's basketball team made the short trip to face Lock Haven (16-7, 11-6 PSAC East) on Wednesday (Feb. 12) afternoon, with the Bald Eagles earning the 93-50 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division victory.
Katie Sheeler finished with 16 points and grabbed three rebounds on the afternoon.
Danae Ellzy inked her 12th double-digit game of the season with 12 points and dished out three assists.
Minyhah Easterling scored eight points, making four of her five baskets.
Lock Haven used the first five minutes aggressively, forcing five turnovers and keeping Mansfield (9-14, 5-12 PSAC East)Â empty on the scoreboard, bursting out to a 10-0 sprint before Ellzy dropped the first basket for the Mounties.Â
Four more points were contributed by Ellzy in the quarter, but the Bald Eagles stormed out of the first ten minutes with a 20-6 advantage. Â
The red and black found their offensive groove, sinking their first five field goals of the second quarter, including four points from Easterling, but the host remained in control at 30-17.Â
A 10-2 run ensued for Lock Haven, before the host finished out the half with the 47-25 edge.
While the Mountaineers looked to inch back on the scoreboard, including six from Ellzy and four from Sheeler, but the Bald Eagles strengthened their lead, taking their 65-38 cut into the final quarter.Â
The host stayed in control and opened up the deficit as Lock Haven finished out the PSAC Eastern Division contest with a 93-50 victory.Â
