MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield University men's basketball team competed in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Sunday, December 21 against California (Pa.) with Cal securing a 93-70 win.
JuJu Pagan led a career high of 24 points and collected three steals, two rebounds and two assists.Â
LaQuan Byrd collected five rebounds and 15 points total.
The Mountaineers trailed 45–39 at halftime after an up-tempo first half that featured strong perimeter shooting and transition play on both ends.Â
Mansfield (1-9, 0-4 PSAC) stayed within striking distance through efficient offense and steady ball movement, entering the break down six.
Mansfield opened the second half with continued pressure, trimming the deficit to one possession, 58-55, by attacking the paint and knocking down perimeter shots.
California (PA) (6-4, 3-0 PSAC), however, answered with a decisive mid-half run, using fast-break opportunities and second-chance points to create separation.
Cal (PA) maintained control down the stretch, relying on balanced scoring and defensive pressure to secure the win with 93 - 70.
