ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Mansfield Mountaineer men's basketball team (0-3) faced off in nonconference action against Roberts Wesleyan University (1-2) on the evening of Nov. 15th. A dominant second-half surge by the Redhawks handed the Mounties a road loss for a final score of 100-91.Â

LaQuan Byrd lead the team with 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Sterling Scott and JuJu Pagan also had double digit points of 17 and 16.

Mansfield controlled the early pace after the tip off.

Byrd collected multiple threes in the first few minutes, including one that stretched the lead to 17–7. Â

The Mountaineers maintained command through the midpoint of the half, generating points off turnovers and increasing the tempo.

Roberts Wesleyan responded with a run of its own, slowly cutting into Mansfield's lead.

Pagan converted a layup with seconds remaining and added a free throw to give the Mountaineers a 50–48 advantage at halftime.

The second half opened with Roberts Wesleyan quickly erasing the deficit, using a three-pointer to take the lead.

A pair of scoring bursts including a string of layups and a transition dunk, pushed the Redhawks' lead to double digits.

Mansfield continued to battle, with Byrd hitting key jumpers and David Hill connecting from beyond the arc to pull the deficit to single digits at 79–72
The Mountaineers added late scoring from Scott and Pagan, but the Redhawks maintained control down the stretch to secure the 100–91 win.
