MANSFIELD, Pa. – Serving as the 2025-26 season opener, the Mansfield Mountaineer women's basketball team (0-1) faced off at the PSAC/CIAA Challenge hosted by Clarion in nonconference action against the Bluefield State Big Blue (1-0). The West Virginia school spoiled the red and black's opener by a score of 100-53, on Friday (Nov. 14) night.

Katie Sheeler led the team with eight points and matched her career high of four steals in a game.

KJ Gordon and Tyarah Woody each scored seven points in their Mansfield debut.
After Gordon opened the season with an early three-pointer, Bluefield State dropped 18 of the next 20 points into the basket, stamping a 32-12 advantage after the first ten minutes of the season.Â
Midway through the second quarter, Paley Adam's started perfect from the field (3-3) to set her career high in her early career, but the Big Blue still held the 41-17 edge and took a 58-24 lead before halftime.
Mansfield outscored Bluefield State in the third quarter behind six points from Easterling, the Big Blue finished off the season opener with a 100-53 victory.
