WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineers baseball team dropped a pair of games to West Chester on the road on Saturday April 6.

The Mounties were designated the home team for these first two games of the series, after the series was moved to West Chester due to weather.Â

GAME 1: West Chester 6 Mansfield 4
Â
The Golden Rams got off to a quick start with three runs in the second inning, but the Mounties didn't let the lead stay for long. A throwing error brought in the first run of the game for the Mountaineers. Â
Brett Stewart knocked an RBI single through the right side scoring
Cole Serfass.
Logan Wells drove in the third run of the game leaving the score tied at 3-3 after two innings.Â

The Golden Rams added three more runs in the fifth inning to retake the lead 6-3.Â

Mansfield attempted the comeback in the seventh when they plated another run but were halted with a 6-4 final.

Austin Lewis went 4.1 innings and three strikeouts but was saddled with the loss.Â

GAME 2: West Chester 5 Mansfield 3
Â
West Chester got off to a quick start taking advantage with two runs through the first two innings.
Ryan Sekulski cut the lead with an RBI single scoring Serfass making the score 2-1.Â

The Golden Rams had a big inning in the top of the fourth plating three runs to make the score 5-1.Â
Â
The Mountaineers attempted the comeback starting with
Jacob Houtz stealing third base and taking advantage of a throwing error to get home to make the score 5-2 after five innings.Â
Â
Serfass drove in another run in the sixth inning on a RBI single to right field. The Mounties stalled after that though, and the rams earned the victory 5-3.

Eric Gustofson tossed seven strikeouts in this 3.2 innings but got the loss in the game.Â

The Mounties are back in action on Sunday April 7
th to close the series with West Chester.Â
