EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – To finish off the regular season, the Mansfield women's basketball team (11-16, 8-14 PSAC East) faced East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action, but the Warriors came out on top, claiming a 58-52 victory.Â
Grabbing 11 rebounds, Jasmine Hilton moved into fourth all-time for rebounds in program history at 855. She finished with nine points.Â
Danae Ellzy led the Mounties with 14 points, securing five rebounds and grabbing two steals.Â
Katie Sheeler dropped her 12th double-digit game of her freshmen campaign, posting 12 points and two steals.Â
A cold start to the day led to only 17 combined points in the first ten minutes of action. Cydney Stanton and Alivia Paeglow each scored two baskets as the Mounties held a 10-3 with two minutes left, but the Warriors (10-17, 8-14 PSAC East) dropped two quick buckets to limit the lead to three at the end of the quarter.Â
After a 13-12 start, Mansfield cooked up an 11-3 run over the next four minutes, including five straight points by Ellzy. Â
Holding the Warriors to four scoreless minutes during that span and two three-pointers by Sheeler in the final minutes gave the Mounties the 30-21 advantage heading into the locker rooms keeping the host at bay, limiting their shooting to just 28.1% (9-32) in the half.Â
ESU took control of their home court, dropping the first seven points of the second half.Â
The Mounties grew their lead back, scoring the next seven of nine points to hold the 37-30 edge, behind a Hilton bucket and one.Â
To end the third quarter, the Warriors used foul trouble by Mansfield to take their first lead of the game at 41-40.Â
Ellzy dropped the first basket of the fourth, remaining perfect from beyond the arc to give the Mounties the two-point lead.Â
Three lead changes occurred, but the home team accrued a 9-3 run to post a 52-46 edge with just 1:31 in the regular season. Â
Four points from Ellzy brought the game to with three with 36 seconds left as the foul game started. Â
The game stood at 55-52 after another two free throws from Ellzy with 27 seconds remaining, but the Warriors sank their insurance free throws to down the Mounties, 58-52.

For the first time since 2017-18, Mansfield will compete in the PSAC Postseason Tournament. On Monday, March 4, the sixth seeded Mounties will head to the third seeded Kutztown for the first round of action with the time to be announced.
