Mansfield Drops Contest to West Chester on Senior Day

MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers women's basketball team (11-15, 8-13 PSAC East) hosted their final regular season home game on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed West Chester University (21-5, 16-4 PSAC East) for senior day.

Before today's contest the Mountaineers celebrated two very special seniors who have helped build the women's basketball program. Emilie Leidig and Jasmine Hilton, each four year members who have dedicated themselves to representing Mansfield and its basketball program both on and off the court.

Jasmine Hilton led the Mounties as the top scorer with a total of 16 points. She also hauled in eight rebounds, recorded three steals, and swatted three shots.

Emilie Leidig was the second leading scorer for the Mountaineers, adding 11 points and knocking down three of her three point attempts.

Alivia Paeglow added in eight points, while also recording three steals.

The Mounties got off to a strong start with two three-point baskets from Leidig, and then a third by Hilton.

The Golden Rams answered back with six points of their own to make the score 9-6.

Mansfield held their early lead with the help of a three pointer from Kate Sheeler and a lay-up from Paeglow.

West Chester then took the lead and ended the first quarter with a four-point advantage as WCU led 18-14.

Hilton scored the first five points of the second quarter for the Mountaineers, along with another two points from Paeglow.

The Golden Rams came back hot handed as West Chester added six points to the board, bringing the score to 24-21.

West Chester stole the show taking over the court for the final minutes with a score of 41-32 going into the halftime.

Leidig started the Mounties second half with a jumper in the beginning of the third. The Golden Rams quickly responded taking a 17-point lead over the Mountaineers at the end of the third quarter.

Mansfield played hard until the final whistle but were unable to overcome the second-half deficit as the Mounties fell to West Chester 78-56.
