MANSFIELD, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineers Women's basketball team lost a PSAC Crossover contest to nationally ranked Gannon by a score of 69-52.
 
Mansfield (5-3,1-2 PSAC) was lead on the day by Katie Sheeler, who had a game high 17 points. She added seven rebounds and three steals. Amiyah Nguyen added eight ponts and seven rebounds off the bench.
 
The Mounties got off to a quick start with Sheeler, Sarah Horton, and Cydney Stanton giving the Mountaineers a 6-3 advantage in the first two and a half minutes.
 
For Gannon (11-1,3-0 PSAC), Bri Claxton sparked the Golden Knights responding with eight of her 16 points coning in the first quarter where Gannon lead 21-13.
 
Mansfield saw their deficit grow in the second quarter with Gannon leading by as many as 14 points before Sheeler closed out the half with and three-point play. The Mounties still trailed at the half 34-23.
 
The Golden Knights heated up after halftime. Shooting 66%, to the Mounties 33.3%. Kristen Fulford netted seven of her 11 points in the quarter.
 
The Mounties would fall by a final score of  69-52.
 
Mansfield returns to action Saturday Dec. 7 as they take on visiting Edinboro at 1 PM, inside Decker Gymnasium.
