MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Mountaineers women's basketball team (5-2) defeated the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks (0-7) in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday (Dec. 3) by a final score of 66-45.
Katie Sheeler recorded her sixth 20 point game of the season scoring 21 points on 8-15 shooting.
Paris Anthony added 16 points including knocking down three of her four three point attempts.
Cydney Stanton scored 9 points and pulled in a game high 13 rebounds.
Sheeler jump started the Mountaineer offense scoring eight of the teams first ten points, helping the Mounties to a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Mansfield allowed just eight points in the second quarter but couldn't stretch their lead any further as they led 20-19 at the half.
At the break the Mounties were shooting just 27.6% from the field but had knocked down three of their three point attempts.
Sheeler led the Mounties with 11 points, while Hortin added another four.
Mansfield began the third quarter on a 12-1 run to take a 12 point advantage over RWU.
After three, the Mountaineers held a 42-29 lead as Anthony knocked down a midrange jumper to close the quarter.
The Mounties pulled away in the fourth, sealing a 21 point victory over Roberts Wesleyan.
