Mounties Blow Past the Bobcats for Non-Conference Game Victory

Woodring’s second double-double headlines Mounties win

Mansfield, Pa. - The Mansfield men's basketball team (4-7) played non-conference opponent Bryant & Stratton College (2-4) and will go into the break with a 82-56 win over the Bobcats.

Scott Woodring led the Mounties for the second game of the week with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Giving Woodring another double-double.

Nasir Brown kept up with the graduate student with 17 points of his own and six rebounds.

Lleyton Fried followed up his hot streak finishing the night with 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting.

The Mounties took a quick lead with two quick three point plays from Woodring with Fried and Julian Wilson putting away two buckets respectively giving the Mounties a 9-2 lead.

Mansfield put their foot on the gas with aggressive defense that  led to a 20-0 run to put the Mountaineers up 22-2 going into the under twelve media timeout.

The Bobcats found a hot hand but the Mounties responded to the change of pace with easy buckets from all players.

The Mountaineers headed into the half with a 49-19 lead.

The Mounties came out of the locker room and kept the momentum going with a steal from Owen Chambers that led to a quick transition layup for  Wilson at the other end.

The Mounties came out of a commercial time out with 15:34 left in the second half with a three ball from Fried that struck nylon extending the lead to 61-25.

The Mounties rolled through the final half of play matching the bobcats every score with one of their own.

The Mounties held on to the ball in the final seconds to secure the 82-56 victory.

Up Next:
The Mountaineers will be back on the road to take on the Bloomsburg Huskies on January, 3rd to start the second half of the season.
