MANSFIELD, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineers women's basketball team (5-7, 2-5 PSAC) was defeated by the Kutztown Golden Bears (6-7, 4-3 PSAC) by a final score of 77-63 in Saturday morning's contest.Â
Kristen Fulford set a career-high with 17 points topping her previous best of 16 points which she set earlier this season against Clarion (12/1/23).Â
Alivia Paeglow recorded her first double-double of the season tallying 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Jasmine Hilton was Mansfield's second-leading scorer, scoring 14 points on 5-11 shooting.Â
The Mountaineers shot 53% as a team in the first quarter to cling to a narrow one-point lead at the end of the first. Hilton paced the way for the Mounties in the quarter leading all scorers with nine points. Fulford added eight points knocking down two threes in the quarter as well. Â
Mansfield's good shooting night continued in the second, leading 39-36 at the break. The Mounties knocked down six of their 10 three-point attempts in the half. Fulford led the way with 13 points on 4-5 shooting including 3-4 from three-point range.  Â
Kutztown took a 47-46 lead into the third-quarter media timeout. Coming out of the break the Golden Bears extended their lead to three. At the end of the third quarter, the Mountaineers trailed 61-51.Â
The Mounties could not mount the comeback in the fourth as they fall to Kutztown.Â
