ERIE, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineers women's basketball team (5-6, 2-4 PSAC) was defeated by the Gannon Golden Knights (14-1, 6-0 PSAC) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East-West crossover.
Cydney Stanton scored a career-high 17 points going 7-12 from the field and 2-2 from three.
Kenedy Stroup pulled in a team-high seven rebounds. She also led in assists with three.
Alivia Paeglow opened the game with a driving left-handed layup. The two teams went back and forth trading baskets in the first four minutes as the game was tied 6-6 in at the first quarter media timeout.
Gannon closed out the quarter on an 11-0 run to give themselves a 19-9 lead at the end of one.
The Golden Knights stretched their run out to 18-0 before the Mountaineers were able to find an answer at the 5:33 mark of the second quarter.
At the half, Gannon held a 21-point advantage leading 39-18.
Stanton paced the way for the Mounties in the first half with nine points. Katie Sheeler added three points going 1-1 from three in the half.
Mansfield couldn't find any momentum in the second half as they fell to the Golden Knights by a final score of 79-45.

The Mounties will return home to start PSAC Eastern Division play. Mansfield hosts Kutztown on Saturday, January 6 with tip-off set for 1:00 p.m. in Decker Gymnasium.
