LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers women's basketball team (8-9, 5-7 PSAC East) fell on Wednesday night to the Lock Haven Bald Eagles (16-1, 11-0 PSAC East) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division play.
Jasmine Hilton had a team-high 13 points and seven rebounds.
Kristen Fulford was a perfect 5-5 from the field and scored 10 points.
Cydney Stanton recorded nine points, six rebounds, and also had a team-high two steals.
Mansfield got the game's first basket thanks to an Alivia Paeglow layup. Lock Haven answered, taking a slim three-point margin into the media timeout.
Lock Haven held a 16-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Hilton recorded four points in the quarter, and Stanton also had four points.
At the half the Bald Eagles led 26-21 as each team struggled from the field in the first half. Lock Haven shot 29% from the field and went 0-2 from three in the half. Mansfield shot slightly better going 33% from the field and knocking down one of their nine three point attempts.
Hilton scored a team-high seven points in the half. Fulford and Stanton each recorded four points.
Mansfield outscored Lock Haven by one in the third to cut their deficit to four entering the fourth quarter.
The shooting picked up for both sides in the quarter as Mansfield shot 47% and Lock Haven shot 41%.
The Mounties got the deficit to as low as one in the fourth but couldn't find a run to give them a lead as their upset bid fell short against the Bald Eagles, as they lost 61-46.
