LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers men's basketball team (6-11, 4-7 PSAC East) were bested by the top team in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division, Lock Haven (11-5, 9-2 PSAC East), as the Bald Eagles defended their nest, winning 89-78.
Michael Dickson would lead the Mounties in scoring with 19 points on 47 percent shooting.
Ty Barrett also had a career-high of nine points on three of four from behind the arc.
Mansfield shared the wealth early with seven Mounties scoring within the first ten minutes.
Lock Haven would start the first half shooting 43 percent from the field, giving them a five point advantage going into the half.
Scott Woodring started the second half with a three pointer cutting the deficit.
The Mounties would keep it close with a couple clutch buckets narrowing the lead to two with 12 and a half minutes remaining.
Lock Haven responded with multiple buckets of their own increasing the lead to seven going into the under 12 media timeout.
Both teams would battle back and forth with Mansfield cutting the lead down to one at the ten minute mark.
Dickson made it a one possession game with a putback layup going into the under eight media timeout.
Dickson then opened the under four media timeout going two for two from the line, But the Bald Eagles pulled away at the end 89-78
