Houghton, N.Y.- The Mansfield Mountaineer men's track and field team collected three victories and two other top three finishes to highlight a great performance at the Highlander Invitational, on Saturday, Jan. 20.

David Wootten and
Derek Simpson claimed the top two spots in the 5K to open the meet. Wootten had a time of 16:09.76 and lead the entire race. Simpson had a personal best time of 16:20.26 and used a strong kick to earn second place.

Jackson Doughty took victory in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.41.
Victor Ortiz finished tenth with a time of 59.00.

The duo also ran in the 200-meter dash. Doughty finished third with a time of 23.27.
Aaron Thomas finished tenth with a time of 24.46,
Ibrahim Sheriff finished 12
th (24.57), Ortiz finished 19
th (25.23) and
Michael Beals finished 28
th (PR, 28.45) respectively.

Mansfield took the top spot in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:41.57. The quartet consisted of Doughty, Thomas,
Seth Neal, and Ortiz.

Thomas was the top Mountie in the 60-meter dash finishing sixth in the finals with a time of 7.39. Sheriff finished 11
th with a time of 7.50 and Beals finished 21
st with an 8.23.

In the Mile,
Isaac Showers finished 17
th with a personal best time of 4:47.56. Neal finished right behind in 18
th in 4:48.66.
Rylan Ebner finished 25
th with a time of 4:58.05.

Oyejadesola Diya finished 17
th in the shot put with a best throw of 7.74 meters.

The Mountaineers are back in action on Friday, Feb. 2 for the first day of the YSU Mid Major Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State.
