David Wootten hit a PSAC qualifying time in the mile to highlight the Mansfield Mountaineers men's track and field team at the Southern Tier Invitational, hosted by Cornell University, on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Wootten hit the qualifying time of 4:27.25 to finish 10
th in the event. The time is also a personal best.
Jackson Doughty finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.14.
Seth Neal finished sixth in the 500-meter dash, with a time of 1:10.10.
Aaron Thomas tied his season best 60-meter dash with a 7.29 and an eighth-place finish.
Ibrahim Sheriff finished 16
th with a time of 7.48, in his season opening race.
Michael Beals finished 34
th with a time of 8.38.
That trio returned for the 200-meter dash. Thomas was the top Mountaineer with a time of 24.69 (17
th). Sheriff finished 20
th with a time of 24.87, and Beals clocked in at 29.54.
Isaac Showers and
Rylan Ebner finished 11
th and 14
th in the 1000-meter run with times of 2:52.83 and 2:59.30.
Oyejadesola Diya opened his career in the shot put with a best mark of 7.77 meters.
The Mounties return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20, as they travel to Houghton University to take part in the Highlander Invitational.
