Woodring Double-Double Not Enough at Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Scott Woodring collected his fifth double-double of the season, but the Mansfield University men's basketball team (6-19, 5-16 PSAC) fell on the road to Kutztown University (9-17, 8-12 PSAC), 81-69, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18.

Woodring led the way for the Mounties with a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double, finishing 6-of-10 from the field. Michael Dickson (12 points), Gabe Perez (11 points), and Manir Waller (10 points) rounded out the Mounties in double figures. Saraj Ali added eight points and eight rebounds.

In a game that featured five lead changes and three ties, the Mounties hung with the Golden Bears throughout, trailing by single digits at the end of each half. Kutztown's slight shooting advantage proved to be the difference, as KU shot 46 percent in the opening half to lead 41-34 at the break, before besting the Mounties, 40-35 in the second half to seal the deal.

The Mounties shot 39 percent (27-of-69) on the afternoon, while both teams knocked down eight 3-pointers. Kutztown finished plus-one in the turnover battle, while leading 11-8 in shots at the line.

The Mounties led 7-4 in steals, ignited by a game-high three from Perez.

For the Golden Bears, Jalen Bryant and Robert Tucker finished with 22 points and 20 points respectively.

The Mounties travel to Millersville University on Saturday, Feb. 25 for their season finale at 3 p.m. in PSAC play.
