Mounties Drop Season Finale at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Mansfield University men's basketball team (6-20, 5-17 PSAC) fell on the road at Millersville University (18-10, 15-7 PSAC), 83-66, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Gabe Perez led the way with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shots, including 5-of-9 from 3-point land. Manir Waller pulled in a team-high seven rebounds to go with 15 points, while Idris Ali and Michael Dickson scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, to round out the Mountaineers in double figures. Jordan Montgomery added a team-high four steals.

Mansfield came out of the gates hot to lead Millersville 41-36 heading into the break. The Mountaineers' defense led to offense, as they nearly doubled Millersville in points off turnovers, while leading 18-3 in fast-break points.
Mansfield shot 43 percent from the field (16-of-37) in the first half, while knocking down six trifectas compared to the Marauders' four.

Mansfield outscored Millersville, 19-6, over the final seven minutes of the first half to erase a seven-point deficit and hold all the momentum at halftime.

However, the Marauders completely flipped the script in the second half, especially on the offensive end where they shot 68 percent (17-of-25) from the field to outscore the Mounties, 47-25, to pull off the come-from-behind victory.

The Mounties were limited to single-digit field goals in the second half and were only able to get to the charity stripe six times compared to the Marauders who made 9-of-11 foul shots.

Ryan Davis and Drew Stover led five Marauders in double figures with 14 points. Davis added eight rebounds.
