Shooting Struggles Down Mansfield against Pitt-Johnstown

MANSFIELD, Pa.- The Mansfield Mountaineers women's basketball team (4-2, 1-1 PSAC) fell to the Pittsburgh-Johnstown Mountain Cats (5-2, 1-1 PSAC) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East-West crossover action.

Jasmine Hilton registered her second double-double on the season recording 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Alivia Paeglow was the second-leading scorer with 10 points and four rebounds.

Paeglow started the game by scoring 6 of the first 10 Mountaineers points as they led at the first quarter media timeout 10-7.

Pitt-Johnstown ended the quarter on a 12-0 run to take a 19-10 lead into the first quarter break.

The Mansfield defense tightened to hold UPJ to 11 points in the quarter. The Mounties shot just 27% from the field in the first half including 15.4% from three. Despite the shooting struggles the Mountaineers cut the Mountain Cat lead to four thanks to a Hilton half-court shot at the halftime buzzer.

The Mounties began the third quarter on an 8-2 run to take a 34-32 advantage at the media timeout.

The Mountain Cats answered with a run of their own, outscoring the Mountaineers 13-2 over the last five minutes of the third quarter. Mansfield entered the fourth quarter trailing 45-36.

UPJ was able to pull away in the fourth and secure a 68-54 victory as Mansfield could never find their shot in today's contest.
