GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Mansfield Mountaineers women's basketball team (4-5,1-3 PSAC) fell to the Seton Hill Griffins (6-4, 3-1 PSAC) in the second game of their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East-West crossover trip.Â
Kristen Fulford was the Mountaineers' leading scorer, recording 12 points, seven rebounds, and a team-high five steals.Â
Jasmine Hilton hauled in a team-high 15 rebounds while adding nine points.Â
The Griffins opened the game on a 7-0 run before Hilton got to the free throw line securing the first Mountaineer point.Â
Kennedy Stroup recorded the Mountie's first basket at the 5:23 mark of the first quarter. At the media timeout, Seton Hill held a 14-5 lead.
Mansfield cut the deficit to four at the end of the first quarter trailing 16-12 as both Hilton and Emilie Leidig led the Mountaineers with three points.
The Mounties opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run which extended their overall run to 11-0 to take an 18-16 lead with 8:41 to go in the half.Â
At the second quarter media timeout, Seton Hill clung to a slim 20-18 advantage as the Mountaineers ramped up the defensive pressure and were able to force three Seton Hill turnovers in the first five minutes of the quarter.
Despite the early quarter momentum for the Mountaineers, Seton Hill answered with a 10-0 run of their own to go up 26-18 with just under three minutes remaining in the first half. At the end of the second quarter, the Griffins led 35-27. Â
Katie Sheeler and Alivia Paeglow paced Mansfield with six points each. Fulford trailed right behind scoring five in the half. Hilton pulled in 11 rebounds in the first half as well. Â
A sloppy start to the third quarter plagued Mansfield as Seton Hill started the second half on another 10-0 run to go up by 18. At the end of the third quarter, the Griffins led 51-37 and seemed to be in full control heading into the last quarter of play.Â
The Mountaineers couldn't find an extended run to get back into the game as they fell to Seton Hill 72-51.Â
