EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mansfield University women's basketball team (1-10, 0-8 PSAC) fell to East Stroudsburg University (8-5, 4-3 PSAC), 74-41, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on the road on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7.
Alivia Paeglow was the lone Mountaineer to eclipse double figures in scoring, finishing with a team-high 11 points.
Emilie Leidig added six points with the second unit, and
Jasmine Hilton grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
A slow first-half doomed the Mounties, as the Warriors built a 46-17 lead thanks to 57 percent (17-of-30) shooting from the floor, while holding the Mounties to just seven field goals and three converted shots at the charity stripe.
ESU also benefited from hot shooting from long range, knocking down 9-of-21 3-pointers, while the Mounties finished a cold 2-of-15. The Warriors led 41-17 in bench points and 32-22 in points on the paint.
The Mounties best period came in the third when they scored 15 points as they knocked down a team- and game-high two 3-pointers and 7-of-9 shots at the foul line.
For ESU, Ryan Weise scored 11 points and Bianca Giordana added 10 to lead the Warriors offense.
The Mounties return home on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 5:30 p.m. for a Commonwealth University showdown against the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven inside Decker Gymnasium.
