Women's Basketball Drops Home Contest to Bald Eagles

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield University women's basketball team (1-11, 0-8 PSAC) fell at home to Lock Haven University (7-6, 5-3 PSAC), 73-57, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Wednesday, Jan. 11 inside Decker Gymnasium.
 
Alivia Paeglow led the Mountaineers with 15 points, eight rebounds and a game-high five steals. Jasmine Hilton added a team-high 16 points to go with a team-high five blocks and five rebounds, while Emilie Leidig knocked down 3-of-6 shots from deep, totaling nine points. Kristen Fulford dished out five assists.
 
After a back-and-fourth opening five minutes to start the game, Leidig drilled back-to-back triples to give the Mounties their first lead since the opening bucket, 10-8, with 4:22 to go.
 
However, the Bald Eagles turned up the heat on their full-court press and went on to outscored MU, 11-2 to close out the period.
 
The Bald Eagles extended their lead to 27-16 through the opening four minutes of the second period, four straight points by Hilton and the first trifecta of the game by Lauren Miller helped MU cut the deficit to 32-26 heading into the break.
 
The Mounties outscored the Bald Eagles 14-13 in the second period and 20-19 in the fourth, but were outscored by 18 points in the first and third period to make up the difference.
 
The Bald Eagles led 52-26 in points in the paint and 16-8 in second-chance points. LHU scored a game-high 23 points off 21 Mountaineer turnovers.
 
For the Bald Eagles, Jenadia Jordan led four players in double figures with 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting.
 
The Mounties return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 14 when they travel to Shippensburg University for a 1 p.m. PSAC contest.
