Mounties Compete at Paul Kaiser Classic

SHIPPENSBURG Pa. – Freshman Aliyah Serrano picked up two victories in the 100- and 200-meter dashes to highlight the Mansfield university Track and Field team at the Paul Kaiser Classic, hosted by Shippensburg University on Saturday, April 30.
 
Serrano took the top spot in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.38 in the finals. She qualified for the finals finishing second in the prelims with a 12.40. Junior Skylar Brown finished fourth in the race with a 12.63. 
 
Serrano picked up her second win finishing with a time of 25.13 in the 200-meter dash. Brown finished ninth with a 26.26.
 
Freshman Abigail Taylor took third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.56 meters. Senior Donoven Cook hit a PSAC qualifying mark of 6.61 meters to finish seventh in the long jump. 
 
Senior Sean Ringgold picked up two third place finishes in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. In the 200-meter dash he crossed in 21.89. he was joined by freshmen Aaron Thomas and Eli Swan who finished 37th (24.16) and 55th (25.98). 
 
Ringgold's 400-meter dash time was 49.11. He was joined by junior Terrance Quaker (16th 51.42) freshman Jackson Doughty (21st 52.26) junior Brenden Sofo (29th 53.26) and Swan (39th 58.34).
 
 Doughty, Ringgold, Quaker, and Thomas combined for the Mountie 4x100 relay team and finished sixth with a time of 43.20. Thomas finished with an 11.93 time in the 100-meter dash (43rd). 
 
Freshman Seth Neal finished ninth in the 3K with a time of 9:31.67. On the Women's 3K freshman Carri Claypool finished 14th with an 11:19.50. Angie Colon, off her morning in Philadelphia competing at the Penn Relays, finished 21st with a time of 12:05.79.
 
Claypool was the top female Mountaineer in the 1500-meter run finishing 20th with a 5:12.32, which is a five second PR. Sophomore Anna Duncan finished 28th with a 5:26.98
 
For the Men's 1500-meter run, freshman David Wootten was the top Mountie in 20th with a 4:10.37. Sophomore Abraham Calderon (24th 4:24.72), freshman Owen Showers (40th 4:43.76) and sophomore Simon Richards (42nd 4:47.19) rounded out the finishers. 
 
Junior Shelby Alexander finished 15th in the 5K for the Mounties with a PR time of 20:17.91. Junior Bailey Morgan finished 16th in the race finishing with a time of 20:30.96. 
 
The Mounties have one more chance to get more qualifiers to the PSAC Championships as they travel to Lock Haven for the LHU Qualifier on Thursday May 5.
