Ringgold, Taylor, and Serrano Soar at Hopkins Loyola Invitational

BALTIMORE- Senior Sean Ringgold and freshman Abigail Taylor and Aliyah Serrano had outstanding performances to highlight the Mansfield University Track and Field team that saw 12 personal bests, at the Hopkins Loyola Invitational hosted by Johns Hopkins University, on Saturday, April 23. 
 
Ringgold excelled on the day taking the top spot in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 49.83. He followed that up finishing third in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 21.73. That time also puts him only 0.04 seconds off the school record. 
 
Taylor improved on her school record triple jump mark, hitting a mark of 11.67 meters and finishing third. 
 
Serrano took second in the 200-meter dash moving to second on the Mansfield record book with a time of 24.87. The freshman also finished seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.30. 
 
Junior Skylar Brown had joined Serrano in both races collecting PRs in both races. In the 100-meter dash she took eighth in 12.44. That bumped her up to sixth fastest in program history. She finished 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.86. Freshman Island Blanche made it a triple PR finishing 32nd in that race with a time of 27.09. 
 
Freshman Jackson Doughty, junior Brenden Sofo, and freshmen Eli Swan joined Ringgold in the 400-meter dash finishing 21st (52.18) 25th (52.64) and 40th (57.15) respectively. 
 
Freshman Aaron Thomas joined Ringgold in the 200-meter dash collecting a new PR of 23.78 and finished 39th. He doubled down with a PR in the 100-meter dash finishing in 11.75 for 24th place. 
 
Senior Ben Chambers set a new best and finished seventh in the pole vault clearing a height of 3.63 meters. 
 
Freshman Seth Neal made his debut in the 3K steeplechase and finished 12th with a time of 10:20.07.  Senior Donoven Cook made his outdoor season debut in the long jump finishing 12th with a best jump of 6.12 meters. 
 
In the 800-meter run, sophomore Anna Duncan set a personal best with a time of 2:31.98, good for 29th place. Sophomore Emily Gerlach finished 40th with a time of 2:49.10. 
 
In the 1500 meter run two more PRs were run as freshman Carri Claypool (56th 5:17.67) and junior Bailey Morgan (59th 5:22.82) clocked in. Junior Shelby Alexander joined the pair finishing 60th with a time of 5:28.27. 
On the men's 1500-meter run, sophomore Abraham Calderon was the top Mountie finishing in 45th (4:23.95). Freshman Owen Showers finished 51st (4:35.12) and sophomore Simon Richards finished 58th (4:52.86).
 
Serrano, Brown Blanche and Taylor teamed up to place fifth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 49.59. Serrano, Brown, Taylor, and Duncan compiled the 4x400-meter relay team that took sixth in 4:17.55. 
 
The men's 4x100 meter relay team consisted of Ringgold, Doughty, Thomas and junior Terrance Quaker. They finished in 43.15, good for sixth. Then Ringgold, Cook, Quaker and Doughty closed out the meet in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet finished sixth in 3:27.58. 
 
The Track and Field team returns next Saturday April 30, as the travel to the Paul Kaiser Invite hosted by Shippensburg, while others with travel to the Penn Relays.
