MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – After having to cancel their yearly spring break trip in 2021, the Mansfield University softball team is set to return to Myrtle Beach, S.C. where they will compete in eight non-conference games, beginning Monday, March 12, as they prepare for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) season.

The Mounties took to the outdoors for the first time this spring, earning a split with non-conference foe Bowie State University on Sunday. The Mounties fell in game one, 13-9 before winning the night cap, 3-2.
In game one, Berardi hit her first home run of the season and the Mounties put up nine runs, but Bowie State put the pressure on from start to finish, totaling 13 runs to earn the victory.

Natalie Blackstone recorded multiple hits and drove in runs, while Easling doubled and Blackstone scored twice.
The Mounties open the 2022 campaign with a 1-1 record, while the Bull Dogs leave Sunday afternoon at 5-7-1.
After homering in game one, Berardi continued her tear with three hits and two RBI in the nightcap. O'Donnell increased her hit total on the day to four, while freshman
Melissa Demo added two hits and two runs to spark the Mountaineer offense.

Danielle Goff (1-0) earned her first victory on the mound in 2022, scattering five hits in seven-complete innings while striking out five to earn her first victory of the season.

After earning her first win on the mound of her career and tossing two stellar pitching performances, freshman
Danielle Goff has been named PSAC Central Pitcher of the week for the first time in her career, the conference office announced on Monday, March 9.
Goff threw six shutout innings against Virginia Union to earn her first victory while also throwing a strong 5 and 1/3 innings against Chestnut Hill where she allowed just one run and the Mounties won the game in extra innings. Goff allowed one earned run in 11 and 1/3 innings during her award-winning week while striking out three hitters.
NEXT UP
The Mountaineers have one more spring trip and will head to Wilmington, Del. On Sunday, March 27 to take on Goldey-Beacom College in non-conference action. The Mounties begin conference play with a double-header against Lock Haven University on Saturday, April, 2.
