Mounties Compete at Bucknell Tune Up

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Mansfield University track and field team participated in the Bucknell Tune Up, for their final regular season meet of the indoor season on Friday Feb. 18. The Mounties had a solid showing on a day that saw nine PR's or season bests. 

The men's 800-meter run held five of those PR's. Freshman Seth Neal was the top Mountie finishing 12th with a time 2:01.83. Freshman David Wootten was the next with 2:02.01 for 14th place. Freshman Isaac Showers (16th 2:12.83) sophomore Abraham Calderon (17th 2:14.60) freshmen Eli Swan (18th 2:20.27), Owen Showers (19th 2:20.72), and sophomore Simon Richards (20th 2:24.48) collected PRs in the event. 

I.Showers (6th 4:47.92 PR) Swan (9th 5:12.00), Richards (10th 5:13.69 PR) and O. Showers. (11th 5:14.80 PR) returned for the mile run. 

The women's 800-meter run had six finishers; sophomore Anna Duncan led the Mountie contingent finishing 17th with a 2:40.28 time. junior Carly Daniels (18th 2:44.01) freshmen Angie Colon- (19th 2:45.44 PR) and Carri Claypool (20th 2:46.54 PR) and juniors Bailey Morgan (22nd 2:49.52) and Shelby Alexander (23rd 2:50.38) rounded out the finishers. 

Junior Skylar Brown and Island Blanche had solid days both competing in the 60- and 200-meter dashes. Brown notched a PR in the 60 finishing ninth with an 8.18 time. Blanche took 13th in 8.26. 

Brown notched another PR in the 200-meter dash finishing in 27.03 to place 7th. Blanche crossed in 28.18 to tie for tenth. 

Senior Sean Ringgold collected a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash crossing in 22.55. Sophomore Michael Beals finished 16th in 26.35. 

Senior Caden Fisher finished in a season best 8.84 in the 60-meter hurdles finishing seventh in the finals. 

In the long jump, junior Kory Wharton finished third with 6.63-meter mark. Senior Donoven Cook finished right behind in fourth with 6.50-meter jump. Freshman Abigail Taylor finished fourth in the triple jump with a best mark of 11.16m 

Junior Rylie Mong topped a season high mark of 3.20m in the pole vault to tie for seventh. 

Mansfield had three distance medley relay teams compete. On the women's side the first group finished with a 13:53.36 time. The second group finished with a 14:13.51 time. 

The men's DMR team collected a third-place finish with a 11:01.72 time. 

The Mansfield 4x400 team finished third with a time of 3:27.99. 

The qualified Mounties will return for the PSAC Championships on Saturday Feb. 26 for the first day of the event hosted by Edinboro University.
