MILLERSVILLE, Pa.-The Mansfield University women's basketball team dropped a road contest against Millersville on Saturday Jan. 22nd, falling 61-46.
The Mounties fall to 5-9 overall in 4-6 in the conference while the Marauders picked up their first Conference win and move to 2-12 on the year.
Turnovers plagued the Mounties throughout the game finishing with a season high 35 turnovers as the aggressive Marauder defense were in the Mounties faces throughout the game.
Paige Whitfield finished with a Mansfield high of 13 points, 11 of those coming in the first quarter. Whitfield was the only Mountie to score in that quarter. Junior
Jasmine Hilton added eight points to go along with 11 rebounds on the day.
The Mounties kept the game close in that first quarter taking an 8-5 lead before the marauders went On a four point swing that gave them the lead at the end of the quarter. Mansfield would tie the game back up in the second quarter on a Hilton layup, before the Marauders went on a 15-0 run. Trailing at the half 34-22.
Mansfield was held to only eight points in the third quarter in Millersville hold on in the final quarter for the victory
Millersville was led by senior Lauren Lister, who had a game high 16 points and four steals. Erika Reed also hit double figures finishing with 11 points.
The Mountaineers hit the road again on Monday as they travel to Shepherdstown W.Va. to take on the Rams of Shepherd University
