Hilton Registers Double-Double, Mounties Drop Road Contest to Shepherd

SHEPHERDSTOWN W Va.- The Mansfield University women's basketball team fell on the road to PSAC East foe Shepherd University 71-52 on Monday Jan, 24th. 
 
The Rams (13-3, 7-3 PSAC) pulled away from the Mountaineers (5-10 4-7 PSAC) in the fourth quarter outscoring Mansfield 26-14. 
 
Junior Jasmine Hilton registered her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Mounties had solid bench help with juniors Bella Skatell notching a season high eight points and Alivia Paeglow scoring eight points to go with seven rebounds on the day. 
 
The teams started with solid defensive play and a Jasmine Perez buzzer beating layup gave the Mounties a 10-9 lead after the first quarter.  The Rams reclaimed the lead before half time using a 12-0 run halfway through the quarter to head in, up by a score of 30-23. 
 
Hilton heated up in a back and forth third quarter, scoring eight of her 13 in the frame. Shepherd began the pull away in the final five minutes of the third quarter outsourcing Mansfield 8-2. 
 
Marley McLaughlin led the way for the Rams with 19 points. Abby Beeman notched 18 points and five assists. 
 
Mansfield returns home Wednesday Jan. 26 as they welcome Kutztown into Decker Gymnasium.
