MILLERSVILLE Pa.- The Mansfield University men's basketball team fell to Millersville University 96-69 despite a career performance from freshman
Scott Woodring.
Woodring collected a career-high 17 points and was 7-16 shooting on the day but it wasn't enough to overcome a high-powered Marauders offense.
Mansfield falls to 1-16 (0-11 PSAC) while Millersville jumps to 13-4 (7-4 PSAC).
A back-and-forth start to the game, Mansfield offensively hung with the Marauders getting quality production from their starting lineup. The Marauders went on a 30-22 run in the final ten minutes of the first half to begin pulling away from the Mounties.
Mansfield couldn't quite get the edge going score for score with the Marauders until the experienced starting five for the Marauder's closed out the final ten minutes of the game outscoring the Mountaineers 31-18.
Senior
Eli Alvin scored 12 for the Mountaineers, and redshirt freshman
Justice Smith added ten points off the bench. Freshman
Idris Ali ran the point guard position, adding five points six assists and five rebounds to go along with three steals.
The Marauders had all five starters hit double figures with Justin Nwosu leading with 22 points.
The Mountaineers hit the road again on Monday as they travel to Shepherdstown W.Va. to take on the Rams of Shepherd University.
