BOSTON Mass. - Freshmen
Kevin Heeman and
Christian Tanner led the way for the Mansfield University men's track and field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Heeman competed in the 3K finishing with a time of 8:46.12. That time shatters his previous best 3K time by 22 seconds. It is also the second fastest time in the PSAC this season.
Tanner continued his solid freshman campaign setting a new PR in the mile. He took four seconds off his best time finishing in 4:24.69.
Freshmen
Henry Polanco and
Rammdy Melendez collected new PRs in the 200m dash. Polanco finished in 23.06 while Melendez crossed the line in 23.99. The pair also competed in the 60m dash with Polanco finishing with his second fastest time of the year at 7.12 seconds. Melendez completed his race in 7.54.
In the middle distance, senior
Travis Keefe competed in the 1000-meter finishing with a time of 2:39.97, taking five seconds of his previous career best.
Jakob Getchel ran his first collegian 800-meter finishing with a time of 2:04.12.
Freshman
Terrance Quaker and senior
Mamadue Diallo were milliseconds off their best times in the 400-meter dash finishing 51.09 and 51.99 respectively.
Sophomore
Caden Fisher represented the Mounties in the 60 hurdles hitting a time of 8.84.
The quartet of Diallo, Quaker, Tanner and Fisher closed out the day with the 4x400 relay, winning their heat and finishing 37
th out of 53 teams, with a time of 3.26.95.
The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday Feb. 22 when they travel to Cornell University to compete in the Marc Deneault Invitational.
