SALEM, W.Va. –
Eli Alvin posted a career-high 21 points, but it wouldn't be enough as Mansfield fell on the road to Salem (W.Va.) 94-70 in non-conference play Wednesday night.

Three of Alvin's five field goals came from beyond the arc as the sophomore went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line to lead the Mounties in scoring. Alvin also recorded three rebounds and three steals.

Nysir Marshburn came off the bench to score 15 points for Mansfield, going 6-8 from the floor.
Taylor Sweeney and
Garrett Cook each knocked down a pair of trifectas and scored 12 and 10 points respectively.

Tyler Moffe pulled down a team-best eight rebounds to go along with six points.

Malik Toppin hit 14 field goals on his way to a game-high 34 points and nine boards. Ferlandis Penny added 17 points with Showan Faltz and Chris Shields each scoring 10 points. Faltz posted a double-double with 13 rebounds.

Salem never trailed in the game, holding a 19-6 advantage midway through the first half. The Tigers would take a 44-25 lead into halftime.

Salem led by as much as 32 points in the second half before earning the non-conference win.

The Tigers held a 46-26 rebounding advantage in the game.

Mansfield hosts Shippensburg on Saturday at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium in the home finale.
