LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman
Henery Polanco ran the fastest freshman time in program-history with a time of 7.17 in the 60 meter dash to highlight a Mansfield University men's and women's track and field team that had five athletes hit a qualifying mark at the Bucknell Bison Opener on Saturday, Dec. 7 inside Gerhard Fieldhouse.
The Bison Opener featured 12 schools, including seven Division l institutions and five schools – all from the PSAC – at the Division II level.
Polanco was joined by fellow freshman
Christian Tanner, who ran a PSAC mark in the mile with a time of 4:28. Sophomore
Caden Fisher hit a PSAC mark with a 9.01 run in the 60 meter hurdles, 0.14 seconds off his personal best.
Freshman
Terrance Quaker (36.85) and junior
Mamadou Diallo (37.02) represented well in the 300 meter dash, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. Quaker's time marked the fourth-fastest time in indoor program history and was the fastest ever by a freshman.
The Mansfield 4x400 meter relay team of
Sean Ringgold, Quaker, Diallo and Tanner finished eighth overall and second out of all Division II teams with a time of 3:30.61.
On the women's side, freshman
Madison Fox hit a PSAC mark of 1.50 meters in the high jump in her first meet. Junior
Lyndsey Payne continued where she left off in cross country and kicked off her senior indoor season by running the mile in a PSAC mark of 5:28, placing third.
The Mounties are back in action at the Houghton Early Season Classic at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13.
