MANSFIELD – Freshman
Christian Tanner and
Lauren Blechl earned first-place finishes to lead the Mansfield University indoor track and field team at the Houghton College Early Season Classic on Friday night, Dec. 13.
Freshmen
Christian Tanner and
Kevin Heeman led the pack in the 3000 meter dash, finishing first and second, respectively. The pair of rookies both hit PSAC qualifying marks, with Tanner coming in at 8:59.50 and Heeman crossing at 9:08.37.
Sophomore
Caden Fisher notched a personal best in the 300 meter dash with a time of 37.09, ranking sixth all-time in program history. Fisher secured another personal best in the 60 meter hurdles, placing second overall with a run of 8.72.
Senior
Jordan Holmes wrapped up his Mountie career with a second-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:44.03 and freshman
Henry Polanco continued to improve in the 200 meter dash, closing in at a time of 23.78.
On the women's side, Blechl won the final race of her career in the 600 meter dash with a run of 1:58.78, ranking second all-time in program history.
Freshman
Madison Fox placed third in the high jump, registering in at 1.56 meters. Junior
Rochelle Myers (2:34.37) and freshman
Mackenzie Lamorte (2:37.26) placed fourth and sixth in the 800 meter dash, respectively.
The Mounties are not back in action until after the New Year when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to compete in the Southern Tier Collegiate Open on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m.
