LOCK HAVEN – Mansfield scored 48 second half points, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome a halftime deficit as the Mountaineers fell 88-77 at Lock Haven in PSAC East play Saturday.
The game opened with four lead changes before a
Tyler Moffe 3-pointer gave Mansfield (1-11, 0-7 PSAC) a seven-point lead with 13:35 to play in the half. Lock Haven (5-5, 4-3 PSAC) regained the lead at the 8-minute mark in the first half and used a 19-7 run to hold a 43-29 advantage at halftime.
The Bald Eagles led by as many as 21 points in the second half. Mansfield cut its deficit down to nine points with under a minute to play, but the comeback would run out of time.
Taylor Sweeney scored a game-high 24 points and led the Mounties with eight rebounds.
Tyler Moffe connected on five trifectas on his way to 23 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
Nysir Marshburn added 11 points for the Mounties.
Christian Kelly paced six Eagles in double-figure scoring with 22 points. Matt Cerruti posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Lock Haven was buoyed by 54.2% (13-24) shooting from beyond the arc.
The Mountaineers host West Chester at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium on Wednesday.
