MANSFIELD –
Hunter DePrimo spun a complete-game five hitter with eight strikeouts, but Bloomsburg held on in game two to sweep Mansfield in a PSAC East doubleheader Friday afternoon at Shaute Field.

Bloomsburg (19-7, 11-3 PSAC East) cruised to a 16-4 win in game one before edging Mansfield (9-18, 3-11 PSAC East) 2-1 in game two.

In the opener, Bloomsburg put a run on the board in the top of the first, but the Mountaineers answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.

Owen Lukens crossed home following an error in left field.

The Huskies' bats came alive, scoring 15 runs over the next six innings capped by a five-run top of the seventh. Kyle O'Fier drilled two home runs with Austin Edgette and Shane Woelfel also going yard in the game.

The Mounties plated a pair of runs in their final at bats with Lukens hitting his first home run of the season and
Dio Infante driving in
Colin Treaster with an RBI single.

Ashton Raines improved to 6-0 on the bump, pitching 6.0 innings with one earned run and six strikeouts.
Luke Hils took the loss.

In the second game, it was a pitcher's duel through the first three innings until Edgette broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth with a solo home run to left field. Chad Cooperman gave Bloomsburg a 2-0 advantage with a sac fly later in the inning.

The Mounties cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth with Infante plating Guidos on a double down the left field line. Mansfield loaded the bases, but were unable to take advantage as the Huskies ended the threat with a double play.

Bloomsburg's Nick Stoner turned aside the Mountie offense over the next three innings to secure the sweep. Stoner moved to 4-0 with five hits allowed and three strikeouts.

DePrimo went the distance on the mound for Mansfield, striking out eight batters and issuing no walks in the loss.

The Mountaineers travel to Bloomsburg on Saturday to complete the series.
