MANSFIELD – Mansfield took the opener 4-2 before cruising to a 16-2 win in the nightcap to sweep Lincoln (Pa.) Sunday afternoon in non-conference play at Shaute Field.

Billy Gregory danced with perfection in game two before the historic feat was spoiled by Lincoln in the sixth inning.

In game one, Lincoln (0-9, 0-0 CIAA) scored a pair of runs in the second, but an
Owen Lukens RBI single into left center in the bottom of the inning scored
Brady Mengel to halve the deficit. In the fourth inning,
J.P. Bonanca drove in
Dio Infante and
Colby Schearer plated
Carlos Espinosa to give Mansfield (6-7, 0-0 PSAC East) a 3-2 advantage.

The Mounties added an insurance run in the sixth when
Carlos Espinosa scored on a passed ball.

Joseph DePerno pitched 6.0 innings with three hits allowed and eight strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.
Tyler Guidos pitched the final inning in relief to pick up the save.

It was all Mansfield in game two as Mengel and Infante drew a walk and a hit by pitch respectively with bases loaded to force in runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Mountaineers hung eight runs in the second to jump out to a 10-0 advantage. Schearer and
Camren Ney drove in runs before Guidos drilled a two-run homer to centerfield. Infante, Espinosa, Zuraski, and Bonanca continued the attack with RBIs in the inning.

In the third, Lukens drove in a run before Guidos scored from third to extend the lead to 12-0. Lukens and
Colin Treaster each plated a pair of runs with two RBI hits to push the lead to 16-0.

The Lions got on the board with two runs in the sixth.

Billy Gregory worked a perfect game into the sixth inning. The junior allowed just four hits in 6.0 innings of work with seven strikeouts and no walks allowed.
