Three Seniors in Double Figures in Loss at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Alyssa Mullins, Mary Kate Rumbaugh, and Melanie Taylor combined for 52 points but Shippensburg took the 72-63 victory in Saturday's matinee at Heiges Field House.

Mullins went 11-18 from the floor to record a game-high 23 points and fell just short of a double-double grabbing a game-high nine boards. Rumbaugh chipped in a season-best 19 points and six rebounds with Taylor adding 10 points.

Freshmen Paige Whitfield and Erin Gibbons each drained two trifectas to combine for nine points.

Neither team could break away early in the game as the score tied four times in the first 10 minutes. Layups from Rumbaugh and Mullins brought Mansfield (7-19, 5-14 PSAC) out to a four-point lead in the first minute of the second frame. A late Jumper from Lili Benzel put the Raiders ahead 31-28 at the half.

In the second half, Shippensburg (7-19, 5-14 PSAC) gained momentum on a six-point run and never looked back. Taylor put up two on a fast break as the Mountaineers climbed their way back within six points of the Raiders, but Ship pulled away in the final minutes to earn the 72-63 decision.

Ariel Jones scored a team-high 19 points for Shippensburg with Benzel adding 14 points.

Mansfield shot 45.8% (27-59) from the floor while holding the Raiders to 44.1% (26-59) shooting in the game.
