NYACK, N.Y. –
Malik Carter scored a game-high 26 points, but Mansfield fell at Mercy 92-73 in non-conference action Wednesday night.
Carter connected on 11-of-19 field goals to go along with four free throws to lead Mansfield (6-17, 5-14 PSAC) offensively. The senior was just shy of a double-double with nine boards.
Jeremiah Worthem added 18 points for the Mountaineers.
Matt Tamanosky recorded nine points with
Gerasimos Koutoufas chipping in five points.
Marko Kazul paced Mercy (10-16, 5-10 ECC) with 23 points and Brendon Smith recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards.
Mansfield held an early lead but the Mavericks took over and never looked back, holding a 51-42 advantage at halftime. Mercy held a double-figure lead for the entire second half to come away with the win.
Mansfield travels to Shippensburg on Saturday.
