Garrett Cook scored a team-best 14 points, but the Mountaineers came up short in a 66-44 PSAC crossover loss at Mercyhurst on Wednesday afternoon.
Mercyhurst (1-9, 0-4 PSAC) jumped out to an 11-2 start, but the Mounties pulled within a possession at 19-16 with five minutes to play in the half. The Lakers closed out the half on a 13-5 run to lead 32-21 at the break.
Mercyhurst maintained a double-figure lead throughout the second half to earn the conference win.
Cook knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points for Mansfield. Moffe added 10 points and four boards.
Eli Alvin had a team-best six rebounds.
Mercyhurst's Nelson Maxwell led all scorers with 22 points. Patrick Smith was just shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 boards.
Mansfield returns from holiday break to host East Stroudsburg in the 2018 finale on Dec. 30 at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.
