WEST CHESTER – Back-to-back 3-pointers by
Andreas Katopodis and
Malik Carter tied the game with under 10 minutes remaining, but No. 23 West Chester pulled away late to stay unbeaten in a 72-63 final over Mansfield Saturday afternoon at Hollinger Fieldhouse.

West Chester (12-0, 8-0 PSAC) never trailed in the game, but Mansfield (4-7, 3-5 PSAC) would not let the deficit grow to more than six points in the first half. The Mountaineers tied the game twice in the half and trailed by just two points going into halftime at 30-28.

The Golden Rams built their biggest lead of the game at 43-34 through the first six minutes of the second half, but an 11-2 run by Mansfield evened the score at 45-45. The Rams countered with a 12-2 run for their first double-digit lead of the day and never looked back.

Jeremiah Worthem led three Mounties in double-figure scoring with a game-high 16 points to go along with nine rebounds. Carter also pulled down nine boards to go along with 14 points while
Tyler Moffe hit a pair of treys on his way to 10 points. 12 of Carter's 14 points came in the second half.

Gerasimos Koutoufas added eight points with Katopodis chipping in seven points.

Jackson Highland topped four Rams in double-figure scoring with 16 points. Frank Rokins, Matt Penecale, and Tim Toro each scored 12 points.

Mansfield returns to Decker Gymnasium to host Millersville on Monday.
